Course Overview
Drawing on a thousand years of traditional Zen tea culture from China,Shanming Courtyardwe offer a mindfulness Zen tea practice course — learning the "Seven Forms of Still Tea," training focus, awareness, and inner peace through the process of brewing, serving, and drinking tea.
The entire course is taught in Chinese, and practitioners bond through tea gatherings, creating a natural space for Chinese language practice and cultural exchange.
Who This Is For
Anyone interested in Chinese traditional culture and Zen tea, or those seeking to settle body and mind through a period of quiet practice.
Course Schedule
Weekend classes (3 teaching days, 14 group practices, 2 weeks total, completing all seven forms)
First Session: August 23 (Sunday) 9:00–11:30
Theme: Gratitude and Stillness
Content: Gratitude ritual, mindful preparation
Second Session: August 29 (Saturday) 9:00–11:30
Theme: Temperature and Focus
Content: Listening to the water, warming vessels and scenting
Third Session: September 5 (Saturday) 9:00–16:30
Theme: Brewing a Perfect Cup
Content: Tea brewing awakening, equal pouring, tea understanding
Course Requirements
Time: 3 teaching days + daily online group practice (tea practice), at least 5 times per week (14 practices total) + 3 offline tea gathering volunteer services, 2 weeks total
Language: Comfortable listening and speaking Chinese (confirmed one-on-one after registration; no Chinese language certificate required)
Cost: No tuition required,a public benefit program
Attendance: Full commitment throughout,completing each offline class and online group practice with sincerity
Teachers
Teachers: Renben, Hengli, and Renxi — experienced tea practitioners with deep, long-term engagement in Zen tea work.
What You'll Gain
